PROJECT

Clean Water For The People of Lochor Edoot

WISA was inspired by the spirit of giving as exemplified by the "Kenyans for Kenya" initiative, through which Kenyans in Geneva, together with the support partners, resolved to offer a borehole to the Lochor Edoot village in Turkana, to positively transform the lives of about 1000 people by providing them a source of clean water within their locality.

How many had deen affected including children?

In 2011, more than 800,000 people, including more than half a million children, had been affected and displaced by violence in the northwest part of Kenya. In Idlib Province, many families had suffered multiple displacements and were increasingly desperate, with no way to safely escape the violence.

How was The Edoot Lochor borehole project realized?

After the formation of Wakenya in Switzerland Association (WISA), the elected Management Committee established a patnership with the Catholic Diocese of Lodwar to cordinate the drilling of a borehole in Turkana. The drilling contract was awarded to Betheltech & Company Ltd at a cost of Ksh. 1'000'900
